Super fun afternoon on Sunday at the Base Fm Rooftop Sessions on top of the Rydges Hotel with Felicity from Touch My Junk in a prequel to Splore
Those Red Stairs
Lost on my hard drive
I found this shot of beautiful Sage while looking through my hard drive for some other files... Experiments with a macro 100m lens
The next stage......
After two and a half years using public transport around Auckland city I am finally independently mobile. Its been challenging, but also rewarding to be confined in general to the downtown. But I've been making plans for a number of projects and today I was able to get out on my motorbike and begin looking at how I'm going to turn these ideas into images....
I won't say too much more on where I'm headed with this but I'm looking forward to photographing New Zealand's people and their stories and sharing them with you all.
But I will say thanks to everyone who has helped me get around over the last couple of years and supported me to get back to being mobile!
Another visit to Touch My Junk
Hidden behind a poster and graffiti covered doorway on Karangahape Road is another world that can only really be understood and appreciated by making a visit.
Felicity Hazlett has collected the most amazing amount of vintage clothing, art, and other goodies that cannot really be explained with words. Its taken me more than a couple of visits to not be completely visually overwhelmed by what I see.
Touch My Junk is a retro clothing store and costume hire/styling service.....
Jewels art and retro madness
Auckland Sunset
Ezra Williams
Last week I was lucky to shoot some shots with the beautiful Ezra Williams for her artist page RAZÉ. Check her page out and follow her. Its not often I have a shoot where there are sooooo many epic photos to choose from... Watch out for this girl she's going places in music and she has moves too!!! Theres another location where we got some more awesome shots but I'll save that till Ezra has posted more sometime...
Jus cause it feels nice to look at
Sometimes it's just nice to make images that feel nice to look at. Theres something about this shot that keeps drawing me back to look again. The colours, the shapes and the depth of field. One of favourite shots from the last couple of weeks
Geoff Noble
Last year i began a project documenting artists and their studios.
It is a privilege to visitthe space where an artist creates and see them as they work. Every studio is different and personalized and its awesome to see the little things that inspire or are held precious.
Often a studio can be a private place and other times a gathering point for creatives. it all depends on the artist and their personality and creative process.
This series of shots is of my good friend Geoff Noble in his workshop studio in Nelson. Geoffs amazing surreal realist paintings are unique and always enlightening. Since my visit Geoff has moved studios so I look forward to visiting his new space.

A sneak peak of 3 more shots with Tane Mete
5 o'clock shadow (and glow)
Maria
This shoot with Maria was the first time I've worked with a model that couldnt speak much English so it made for a few laughs. Maria is here on a working holiday in New Zealand but luckily my amazing MUA Kiere has a good amount of Spanish going on!!
Another city sunset
I love living in the city when you can go for walks and see scenes like this..
Sunset in downtown Auckland
I've photographed this spot before a long time ago but this afternoon I was on the way home and saw the awesome colours in the sky from a distance and knew this spot would make for an awesome shot... I fought my way through the after work rush hour traffic to make it before the light disappeared and after a couple of shots this is what I got.... pretty stoked with the result. I love the effect of exposing manually for the highlights and letting the shadows fall into near blackness.
Amazing Taane
I dont need to add too many words to this image, I think it speaks for itself.
This is Taane Mete, dancer, yoga instructor, all round awesome human being.
At peace amongst the lines and chaos of Auckland's spaghetti junction
Falun Dafa
The joys of living in the city, I never know what I will see each day
Beauty for fun
Such a fun day yesterday shooting with Jana, Yasmin, and Kier Ibanez making them look even more beautiful than normal
Round the Bays with the Auckland Down Syndrome Association
It took my legs a few days to recover from running the Round the Bays last Sunday. I'm definitely not as fit as I used to be and its a good reminder of how lazy I've been in the last 12 months or so!!
I had a great time with the beautiful kids and their whanau of the Auckland Down Syndrome Association and thought I'd share some pics from the fun day.
Looking forward to the 20th March and the Buddy Walk in Mt Eden
French 83
Anyone that knows me, knows I quite like the odd coffee, in fact sometimes when its the choice between coffee and food, coffee will win.
For me theres a pretty simple equation that will make a coffee shop one of my regular stops.
1 Good coffee, get my triple shot flat white right, not too hot and not too much milk.
+
2Smiling staff who get to know my name and order after only a few visits. I usually need my coffee to get my day going and until I have that cup in my hand I'm somewhat slow and grumpy so smiles go a long way toeasing my pain during that wait.
+
3Pleasant interior with somewhere for me to shelter until that caffeine is trickling into my body, preferably with some decent magazines with pretty pictures to distract me while I wait
=
Satisfied coffee drinkerwho may visit more than once a day depending on whats happening in life.
The Girls at French 83 are well on their way with their coffee arithmetic. Coffee is awesome, smiles are friendly and cheeky and I can even shop for new clothes while I wait....
French 83 has just opened at 209 Federal Street in Auckland, rumor has it that there may even be a barbershop in the way so I can get my haircut while I wait for my flattie!!
