Although we’re in the middle of a housing shortage, there’s no need to build an ugly new plastic subdivision smack bang next to such an important historical and archaelogical site for Maori and Aotearoa.

Im so glad I still love the simple act of making a photo even though I spend a lot of time shooting as my job. I know plenty of other photographers who just dont find the time to shoot for themselves anymore.
Today we were out for a walk up Bastion Point and the late afternoon sunlight was shining straight through these beautiful poppies and I just had to get my camera and head right in amongst that colour.
So last Sunday I came home from a South Auckland motorbike ride to find half of Auckland's Tongan community "protesting" and " celebrating" in front of my apartment on Quay St in downtown Auckland. Soooo much red, flag waving, dancing, big smiles and laughter. If this was the day after losing the semi finals of the Rugby League I can't wait to see the day after winning
So I had to get amongst it... I dont think we'll be seeing anything like that in the Auckland CBD in a while
Awesome to spend a night last week shooting for the NEXT magazine Woman of the Year Awards. Some pretty amazing woman there getting recognized. Made me feel proud to live in a country where we have such strong driven woman. And as for the overall winner Kristine Bartlett, such a legend I had to force my way in there to hug such an amazing lady!!
So nice to have all my prints scattered at A0 size along Dominion Road and the full collection of images from this project in the gallery at Lot23, Mt Eden. Has been an awesome experience to get everything printed at the different sizes and work with the awesome Dave's at Sign It Signs in Mt Eden.
Ive made a couple of trips to Dominion Road since the images have been mounted and its really satisfying to watch people stop and check out the larger than life images. Great to get a little coverage on NewsHub as well
Woohoo its almost here....Installing my open air exhibition tomorrow on Dominion Road from Mt Eden all the way to Mt Roskill.

Last weekend I had a lot of laughs photographing the cast of Dominion Road, The Musical.
I entertained myself by making them do ridiculous things and telling them they would make for good photos!! 😂
But in all seriousness Dominion Rd The Musical was an awesome portrayal of Kiwi life today and a truly New Zealand story.

Its been such a crazy busy end to the year I've barely had the chance to post any of my work from the last couple of months with weddings, corporate events, portraits and product shoots keeping me shooting and editing till the wee dark hours.
Soooo finally I'll share some shots from a special day I got to spend with Toni and Paul Hasselman and their fun and friendly family. Congratulations and all the best for your future lives together and the joining of two awesome families.
The thing I love about photography is that I get to attend events and meet and learn from people I never would have dreamed of meeting.
This last week I was able to give some time to a number of organizations involved with World Aids Day on December 1st. Its a virus I didn't know much about and carries a lot of negative stigma still in our society. I enjoyed meeting the people who work really hard to raise awareness around HIV and support those affected.
Unbelievable to think that last year in New Zealand we had the highest rate of infection yet even when we are more aware of the risks of unsafe sex than ever.

After two and a half years using public transport around Auckland city I am finally independently mobile. Its been challenging, but also rewarding to be confined in general to the downtown. But I've been making plans for a number of projects and today I was able to get out on my motorbike and begin looking at how I'm going to turn these ideas into images....
I won't say too much more on where I'm headed with this but I'm looking forward to photographing New Zealand's people and their stories and sharing them with you all.
But I will say thanks to everyone who has helped me get around over the last couple of years and supported me to get back to being mobile!
Hidden behind a poster and graffiti covered doorway on Karangahape Road is another world that can only really be understood and appreciated by making a visit.
Felicity Hazlett has collected the most amazing amount of vintage clothing, art, and other goodies that cannot really be explained with words. Its taken me more than a couple of visits to not be completely visually overwhelmed by what I see.

I've photographed this spot before a long time ago but this afternoon I was on the way home and saw the awesome colours in the sky from a distance and knew this spot would make for an awesome shot... I fought my way through the after work rush hour traffic to make it before the light disappeared and after a couple of shots this is what I got.... pretty stoked with the result. I love the effect of exposing manually for the highlights and letting the shadows fall into near blackness.

It took my legs a few days to recover from running the Round the Bays last Sunday. I'm definitely not as fit as I used to be and its a good reminder of how lazy I've been in the last 12 months or so!!
I had a great time with the beautiful kids and their whanau of the Auckland Down Syndrome Association and thought I'd share some pics from the fun day.
