Recently I was watching a documentary about a famous French photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson and talking with a friend about a line he said about how we all forget to just look, really look at whats around, and what we're taking a photo of.
This kind of relates to how over the last year or so Ive been trying to be more present right now in the moment, in the place that I'm standing, not some where off in the future or the past. And for that moment just to enjoy what I see and appreciate the little details.
Im really grateful I have photography and the desire to make images of the things that catch my attention. I always notice colour and contrast, lines and shadows, curves, angles, and reflections. I like that I have a reason to stop and look cause for a long time I was just glancing and not always seeing what was there.
While walking home the other night with my camera the shadows of this palm initially attracted my attention as well as the bright red berries. Its not everyones cup of tea Im sure, but for me this is what just stopping and looking is all about.....
